Production forestry:
Manage a 20,000-acre Eucalyptus forest on the east coast of Hawaii
Island . Responsible for all aspects of forest operations, budgeting
and planning. Accountable for all forest inventory programs, policies
and procedures in a variety of forest types and management objectives.
Coordinate with research forester on experimental design and field
implementation. Supervise a 5-person inventory crew, one forester & one
nursery technician.
Dry land restoration: Responsible for a dry land reforestation project
on the West slope of Kohala. Direct a 3-person crew with all facets of
exclosure concept reforestation. Plan, budget and implement innovative
concepts for reforestation using the latest reforestation practices.
Nursery: Direct a nursery technician on Eucalyptus and native species
production. Organize seed selection, sowing schedules, watering and fertilization
regimes as well as overall nursery operation. Coordinate with research
forester on native species propagation protocols.
